Yamanakako
Concept
A hillside villa in a national park located in Yamanashi, Japan. This villa is used for a temporary stay to enjoy the drive from the previous project, Sengokuhara to Yamanakako. The concept of this house is the house within a house. The entire building is kept as is and the first floor is untouched. Our client wanted to only use the second floor as the living space so this project has two sequences when entering the space. The original building is built out of concrete. To keep the original form, the design focuses on using a monotone with rich flair added to the space. Every space has different material to subtlely highlight the threshold between spaces.
